I hesitated as to what rating to give the last question "Is it easy to get an appointment?" Yes, it's easy to get an appointment whether in person or by phone but it's not easy to get one to see a specific doctor within a reasonable length of time. At my recent appointment, the doctor was running late, I know that can't be helped but I was rather annoyed that I could not ask about one thing because of this, I was told it would have to wait. I only go to the doctors when absolutely necessary or for a specific review or to get results, therefore, I was pretty miffed by this. I accepted my appointment time over-run and so should people after me. I now realise I should have spoken up about this at the time rather than come home feeling annoyed. Apart from this, I do feel I get great care from this practice and find all the staff, receptionists, nurses and doctors alike, very pleasant. I imagine they have too many patients and do their best given the numbers of hours in a day. However, as I'm not a time waster, I should be treated as such and given a few more minutes. Now I shall have to make another appointment which may result in someone more needy having a longer wait to see their doctor.

It would be useful to have a few appointments available on a daily basis like before. My problem may not be an emergency nor can it wait for a week or more. Right now it is very unlikely to get an appointment within a week. Also emergency clinic wait times can be very often almost 2 hrs. It is almost like going to A&E at the hospital.

Response from Sands End Health Clinic

Dear Patient, Thank you for taking the time to feedback. Wait times for routine appointments should improve as we are in the process of recruiting new GPs. The wait times for our walk-in clinics do unfortunately vary from day to day and there can sometimes be up to a 2 hour wait. This is something we are looking into. Thank you for suggesting book on the day appointments, we will discuss this at our next Patient Participation Group Meeting. Thank you again for your feedback.

The doctors are incredibly friendly, informative and caring. They are the best I have experienced having been to several other surgeries across the UK. The receptionists are somewhat abrupt and unfriendly but don't let that put you off!

Dear Patient, Thank you for taking the time to feedback. Our practice manager meets with the reception team regularly and will address these issues at their next meeting. Thanks again.
